MacPips Wooden Puzzle Dashboard Widget

This fiendish and addictive puzzle will keep you busy for hours. Warning: Don't play this at work!

Based on a wooden toy we once saw, this puzzle is more difficult than it looks!

The idea is simple. You have to get all of the pieces onto their respective coloured pegs. You can move one or two pieces at a time, but only so the colour of the piece you are moving (or the bottom one if two) matches the piece you are moving it to. If moving to an empty peg, the piece must match the colour of the peg.

MacPips Bubble Clock

We had the idea of a futuristic clock. Phil played around with Quartz Composer and this is what he came up with.

Rotating, translucent, illuminated 3D spheres tell the time in this hybrid digital-analog desktop timepiece.

We think it has a hypnotic, Mathmos lava-lamp type vibe to it.

NB: This uses the Synchro LET font which is included in iWork (including the demo bundled with most Macs) but is also available for free from Apple

MacPips Evolution Puzzle Dashboard Widget

The evolution game is very simple to play but hard to win!

The buttons on the game panel move the pictures backwards and forwards, but they move more than one. A click might move some pictures forward, some back.

Your objective is to show the evolution of man in the four windows, or if you prefer, get four images of Michelangelo's 'Creation of Adam' in a line.

MacPips WorldTime Dashboard Widget

Gary's widget presents you with a map of the Earth and shows the areas where it is day and night.

It also functions as a 'world time' clock, allowing you to see the time in all of the world's time zones. By default, it will be the time zone you are in, but you can pick any other one from the list.

You can also see the effect of changing the time or the date in two ways:

click on the date or time buttons and change them to another value;
click on the map and drag the mouse left and right to change the time, up and down to change the date.
If you hold down the 'Apple' key as you drag, the date will be locked; hold down 'Shift' and the time will be locked.

Clicking 'Now' will update the time, date and time zone to where you are now.

Clicking 'Live' makes the widget update in real time. This is automatically enabled/disabled when the widget is loaded or unloaded.
